Prove It
You know that saying actions speak louder than words. People will usually say I’ll believe it when I see it, show me the money, prove it, etc.
Think about this. Jesus did countless miracles and good works before lots of people. They saw him do things no one on earth had ever done. His greatest of works did not seem to convince some of the leaders and people of his day.
However when he SAID I AM, and I do the works of my father in heaven, and I was before Abraham, etc., those are the things the religious leaders chose to get angry about. Did he not back up his claims by what he did? One follower of his said could anyone do these things unless he came from God? He healed this man from blindness by making mud from his spit and putting it on his eyes. He said no one has ever been able to give sight to the blind, (a double meaning by the way).
Jesus delights in proving himself to us. Why? Because he wants us to believe. He wants us to know who he is. That’s why he asked his disciples who do men say that I am? Following up with “who do you say that I am?” He wanted to know, have my words and my works convinced this generation that their messiah has come?
We have the same challenge today. Have the works of Jesus proved anything to you? Or are you one of those who say I’ll believe it when I see it? Okay, that’s fair enough. King David said taste and see that the Lord is good. You won’t find out anything without tasting. Have you tried Jesus? Have you given him the opportunity to prove himself to you? Have you invited his help, wisdom, healing, peace, understanding, and love into your situation? He’s okay with the asking. He’s okay with the need to be convinced by a true seeker.
Have you asked him to prove his word in your life? When you do ask, do it in faith. Don’t say you don’t have any because the Bible declares that everyone has been given a measure of faith. Use your measure. Be honest with Jesus and tell him exactly where your head is on the subject of, HIM. He is not intimidated by your questions. What you are thinking or questioning will not surprise him or put him off. He’s God. He’s big enough to handle it. If you ask with a sincere heart and the intention of getting to know him, He will not let you down. He knows how to get through to you. He knows how to speak your language…so to speak. God has unique and clever ways of helping you recognize him.
Look around at the marvel of creation, really look. That’s God showing off. Give him the opportunity to show off in your life, and when he does brag on him. Give him the credit like the blind man did. He said, “all I know is that I was blind and now I see!” Sounds like Jesus proved it.
