Look Who’s Talking Now!

Something to say. I decided this would be my blog’s name because when I was a little girl I was very, very quiet, and extremely shy. I was so shy I didn’t even talk much to the people in my own home. I am the seventh born out of nine children. A lot of people in the house to compete with. On the inside, I knew what I wanted to say, but I just couldn’t seem to get it out. It was scary and frustrating.

After an illness when I was about eight, it became worse. I developed a dreadful fear of leaving the house and became even more silent. I honestly don’t know what happened to bring that on. But, I believe the prayers of my parents to a loving God put an end to it.

I was still somewhat quiet, but somewhere around middle school I decided the heck with being shy. I’m over it! I’m breaking free! Free from the fear of speaking, the fear of voicing my opinion, the fear of being heard. In an effort to overcome I made lots of social mistakes. I became somewhat reckless and was on the verge of failing some of my classes. After a very embarrassing shutdown from a teacher, I got a clue. Okay Carol. . . it appears you’ve gone too far with this break out thing. Time to dial it back because if you fail middle school, this time mama will be praying. . . Lord don’t let me hurt this child!

Anyway, the shy ship has sailed. Some people may wish that ship would come back to the dock and stay there, but ha-ha…too late. I’ve discovered talking is fun, and writing is even more fun. My mother jokingly told me once, “you can talk the paint off the wall.” I took that as a great compliment.

I do have something to say. I believe the enemy of my soul wanted to permanently shut me up, and keep me in fear. But my God is giving me an even greater voice, and he’s given me an ability to write. I simply want to share it with people who might enjoy it. I realize I’m not writing for everyone and that’s okay. We all have an audience we are intended to reach and mine will find me.

My mix of conversation will be mostly Christ-centered, and things close to my heart filled with some sass. I hope you, dear reader, will receive joy and inspiration from these writings. Here I go!

Carol SherrillI have been so busy writing blogs, I forgot to tell you who’s writing. Well, you read about the child me, now let me tell you about the adult me. I am an Air Force veteran. I have been married to my wise and compassionate husband Jeff for 34 years. He keeps me grounded. We met in the military and have lived in numerous places around the globe. We have two lovely, talented Jesus-loving daughters. I am a preacher, and God has gifted me in the prophetic, particularly in the word of knowledge and the word of wisdom. As you can see I love to write, and I enjoy traveling for fun and for preaching, and often those are intertwined. Enjoying the journey.
